Applications are now open for DARA Basic Training in Astrophysics for the 2026/27.
The programme is for any recent graduates in physics or a related subject from: Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia, or South Africa. Applicants from South Africa should be current/recent Honours students from an HDI. No prior experience of astrophysics is required.
The training comprises of four intensive training units, spread throughout the year (June 2026 - February 2027). Covering: astrophysics; technical training in using a radio telescope; radio astronomy observation; data reduction and analysis; and computer programming. Training is delivered by experts from the project’s UK and South Africa partners, as well as local partners in each country.
